I remember the first page of my sketchbook was 1/4 empty. The only thing written was the title “New Years, New Me”. That was it. I kept it empty for a good year and a half till the end of 2016. Where I decided to write what my heart yearns for.
Stepping out from my comfort zone
Flipping through my 2017 new year’s resolutions, I could say a few have been ticked off. One of my resolutions was to step out of my comfort zone & explore life. I used to be the little girl who doesn’t explore and was very cautious with every step I take. If things would change or be different from my normal daily routine, I would get frustrated. Let’s just say, I used to like things to stay where it is.
But we all know that’s not how life works. There will always be changes in life. Nothing really remains the same. If there were no shift, there won’t be any room for growth – the growth to become the best version of ourselves. One thing to take away from my first resolution was that adventures don’t start when you decide to fly to Hawaii or sky-dive Dubai. The intention behind adventures is stepping out from our comfort zone. That is where adventures happen!
I could say it was very uncomfortable at the beginning. The steps I took to get out my comfort zone was exposing myself to the world. By exposing meaning I put myself out there into the world; to take a foot out from the house & just being out there connecting with others. (Not exposing myself naked to the world. Geez, you got a dirty mind there 😉 haha)
It is frightening to put yourself out to the world & meeting strangers especially being brought up in a culture where talking to strangers is a bad thing that could ever happen. Well, thanks to red riding hood. Since young I had the seed of belief planted that “stranger = danger”. It was uneasy for me to be engaging with others but from that experience, it leads me to my second resolution which is connecting with like-minded people.
Connecting with like-minded beautiful people
Back when I was in my high school years, I couldn’t really open myself up honestly speaking. When I wanted to speak my mind and heart to my friends back in high school, I couldn’t get myself to speak up from my heart. There was always resistance and something just tries to hold me back. I would try to compromise with my friends and try to fit in. The truth is it was very energy draining because we were not aligned.
As I decided to write down “Connecting with like-minded people”, it happened. I’ve connected with so many amazing people whom I now proud to call my friends. It’s so uplifting and energising. These friends I’ve connected are there to inspire, encourage, support and make me become the greatest version of myself. These are the types of friends & people you want to have in life that is always positive, authentic & genuine. They have your best interest at heart.
With that being said, I wouldn’t be connecting with these amazing people if I did not have their good qualities in me. I realised the outer world is merely the reflection of our inner self. If we want to make a great impact, it starts with us; if we want to change, it begins with us too. As a reminder for myself, I made a quote :
All it takes is to shift our perspective, set our intentions right and put things into radical action.
Attracting beautiful abundance
Speaking of intentions & radical actions, another resolution I jotted down in my book is “ attract beautiful abundance”. If you’re familiar with “Law of attraction” & “The power of positive thinking”, this may ring a bell. Most self development book will talk about how important our thoughts are where it could manifest into reality. Partly is true but it also comes with actions. Thoughts & actions = results. When I first heard of manifestation, I thought I could just sit all day at daydream of what I want. Later on to realised, radical actions play a role too.
The most important thing is set my intentions right, follow what my heart feels and put into actions. Do it wholeheartedly & remind yourself what made you started it. With these, it will achieve great results. Honestly, I’ve received so much abundance of life. And I’ll be always welcoming more abundance into my life.
After putting things into radical actions, hustling & bustling through life, always being on the go, along the way I’ve lost touch with myself. I’ve forgotten to spend time & take care of my wellbeing – mentally, physically & spiritually. This brings me back to reconnecting with myself where I’ve written post on“Nourish your life through your vibes” & “Let yourself be free”. It was part of my journey on self-healing & discovering my inner self.
Believe & Love yourself
Last but not least, to believe & love myself is another resolution I wrote it down. This is one of the most challenging & difficult to achieve 100 %. As I speak, well type* I’m yet learning to trust in all that I do. The doubts, worries, anxiety, stress, negativity, conflicts, obstacles & our ego self will be there to block our path from becoming the best version of ourselves which in essences is our real authentic self.
💕 Reflecting throughout the 365 days of 2017, it was a year of self-discovery for me. I’ve grown mentally & spiritually more than ever before. Everything started with the burning desire to become the best version of me. 2017 is just the very beginning of unleashing the magic of my life.
